Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) Selangor will host MNS Open Day in conjunction with World Environment Day at Taman Lembah Kiara, TTDI on June 5, 2010 from 9 am to 2 pm.
This is one of the festivities to mark the Society’s 70-year anniversary with the theme ’70 Years Conserving Nature Celebrating Life’.
Held in an urban green lung, MNS Open Day aims to ‘bring home’ the call to protect and cherish Malaysia’s magnificent but threatened wildlife and habitats with a new urgency.
Activities that engage both children and adults will animate the event. They include stream ecology, scavenger hunt, story telling, face painting, arts and craft, guided nature walks and single rope technique.
Exhibition booths by MYCAT, WWF and Wild Asia will underline the urgency to save our wildlife from poachers, agricultural and infrastructure expansion, and loggers.
The event will also seek to raise interest and support for Petitions to help protect Selangor State Park and Klang Gates Quartz Ridge, Temengor Forest, Ulu Muda Forest, and forests from conversion to latex timber clones.
The public will learn of MNS Selangor’s Strategy Plan to better protect Ayer Hitam Forest and Sg. Selangor, and advance Water Demand Management.
Greger Reimann’s talk on Condo Recycling will interest condominium management and residents, and Christian Reimer will speak on our unique but threatened Biodiversity.
MNS President Tan Sri Dr. Salleh Mohd. Nor will officiate.
Supermodel Amber Chia will grace the event, in support of MNS Open Day and Mother Nature.
